The Westfield W-League is a very unknown league in Europe, even though Australia has traditionally been one of the markets where women’s football has exhibited a considerable level in international tournaments.

But, how are they marketing teams performing?

As a league, they have nothing to envy from some European leagues, but still behind countries as England or Germany. Globally, the Westfield W-League is still very far from the American National Women’s Soccer League, having 62,152 and 414,972 social media followers respectively. Regarding clubs, 78% of them have both men’s and women’s teams. If we have a look at the ones that have exclusive social media platforms for the women’s teams, Melbourne Victory Women accounts for the 33% of the total fan base of 98,594 followers.

Shopping, media, motor, finance, airlines; Westfield, Foxtel, Hyundai, Nab and Qantas. These are the main sponsors of the league. On clubs’ jerseys, we can found a wide variety of companies. From Airport, Education, Electricity, Health, Construction and Beauty. If we had to pick one, the Education would be the sponsorship field present in more teams.

The Westfield W-League is composed by the following 9 teams:

  • Brisbane Roar FC Women
  • Sydney FC Women
  • Newcastle Jets Women
  • Melbourne City FC Women
  • Canberra United Women
  • Perth Glory Women
  • Melbourne Victory Women
  • Western Sydney Wanderers
  • Adelaide United Women
